Children in War

Music, poem and photographs by Felicia Jarvis
Reading by Andrew Jarvis

Children in War

Empty massacres
Small eyes are watching
Their words
Going up to the empty sky
Fading away without any realistic effect
No one notices
No one understands
But children try to find
Their times
Dreams
And hopes which they used to have
But, a whirlpool of hopelessness
Captures them
They will have
An illusion of silence
During the worst commotion
Their pleading surely exists
In their voices without sound
In their writings without letters
In their words without being said
In their breathing
In their minds
In their silent screams
And calmness in the madness

Something Is Missing

Music, photographs and the poem by Felicia Jarvis

Something Is Missing

Something is missing in the cupboard.
It might be a jar of blackberry jam,
Made of the fruits picked in the summer.

Something is missing in the closet.
It might be a coat with big red buttons,
Their bright red cheered me up in the winter.

Something is missing in my heart.
I wonder if I know what is,
It can make everyone smile like spring.

Something is missing somewhere
If I know what is missing and where
I can fill the ‘what’ into the ‘where’ in the autumn.

Afterglow

The sun has quietly set over the mountains
I’m seeing the hem of  its orange dress

Intellectual Darkness

Intellectual Darkness

We are falling into profound isolation and loneliness
We are trapped in a continuous one way force
Bragging about our discoveries of the universe's secrets
Although our actual achievement was but to name a few stars
So called solutions come from an intellectual darkness
The imaginings of wise men wearing purple garments
They are diligent men at spreading their mythologies
Causing endless struggles that result in disappointments
Asking, searching and eventually blaming their gods
Falling faster and deeper into isolation and loneliness

Nocturne

Walking with bare feet on the cold floor
Hearing your breathing and rough waves
A seagull is flying over the dark sea
If I had wings like this seagull
I would fly out from this window
To find you, my sleeping beauty
You are always close to me, but hiding
Imagining touching your warm hands
Imagining hearing your soft voice
But, please sleep well my beauty
Enduring loneliness is my pleasure
